Dr. Anil J. Idiculla, a.k.a. "Doctor I", is a board certified orthodontist who is honored to be the only Ivy-league trained orthodontist in Douglas County and Downtown Denver. He received his undergraduate degree in his hometown of Philadelphia at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. He then attended dental school on an academic scholarship in Florida and graduated #1 in his class, graduating summa cum laude. His dream was finally fulfilled when he returned to the University of Pennsylvania for his orthodontic residency, where he obtained critical specialty training for two additional years to create smiles that look beautiful and last a lifetime. Most recently, he was selected by his peers and patients as their top orthodontist in Colorado as seen in 5280 Magazine.
Dr. Idiculla’s research on how orthodontics can affect the face of a patient earned him an award from The University of Pennsylvania. His treatment is not just related to your teeth. His treatment goals are just as focused on the effects that your teeth have on your lips, your chin, and your face. This is just as important to Dr. Idiculla as it is to you. He was honored to have this research formally presented to the Angle Society of Orthodontists, a society with the goals of excellence and progress in the art and science of orthodontics, consisting of men and women identified as able and willing contributors to the advancement of orthodontics.
Dr. Idiculla is proud to be an orthodontic faculty member at The University of Colorado where he teaches diagnosis and treatment planning, growth and development, adult orthodontic treatment, and clinical efficiency. His passion for education is further than just Colorado. He has lectured nationally and internationally on many topics, at places such as the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of California-San Francisco (UCSF), the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), the Hawaii Society of Orthodontists (HSO), and the Mexico Society of Orthodontists (MSO).
Dr. Idiculla will never forget the fact, however, that he is a lifelong student. He attends multiple continuing education courses across the world so that he can provide the best orthodontic care in Colorado.
Dr. Idiculla is a strong believer in a multi-phase treatment approach with orthopedic care when needed. With this philosophy, extractions for orthodontic treatment can be almost eliminated, as he guides the growth and development of the jaws and face of children. This is exactly why he loves to see patients at the age of 7, thus almost eliminating the need for future orthodontic extractions, and ensuring ideal growth of the jaws and the face.
Dr. Idiculla is well-known in the dental community. He is a charter board member of the Colorado Orthodontic Foundation (COF), which donates scholarships to underprivileged community members in the effort to help raise awareness and understanding of the benefits of orthodontic health . He is also a board member of Kids In Need of Dentistry (KIND), which provides high-quality, affordable dental care to children in need throughout Colorado. Since 1912, KIND has helped thousands of children each year get the dental services they need at a cost their families can afford. Through a network of volunteer and paid dental professionals, KIND provides comprehensive dental services, including exams, cleanings, restorative treatments, orthodontics, emergency care and specialty services to children who otherwise cannot access or afford care. KIND serves children at facilities in Denver and Colorado Springs, and in rural and underserved urban communities through our mobile Miles for Smiles dental unit. Dr. Idiculla also is actively involved in the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society (MDDS), serving as the chair of the Communications Committee as well as a member of the Continuing Education committee. He is also a board member of the Colorado Summer Meeting (CSM), an organization that is dedicated to providing high-quality education programs and top-notch speakers for orthodontists and their staff to stay current with the latest advances and trends in orthodontics. He is on the General Practice Residency admissions committee at the University of Colorado, and was selected as the sole orthodontist representing Colorado on the Clinical Board of the largest dental group in the country. He is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Colorado Dental Association (CDA), the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society (MDDS), theAmerican Association of Orthodontists (AAO), the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists (RMSO), the Colorado Orthodontic Association (COA), and the Colorado Summer Meeting (CSM). Dr. Idiculla is also well-known in the local community, as he was elected to be a board member of the Lone Tree Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Idiculla could not be happier in Colorado. Between creating smiles, skiing, tennis, golf, working out, and enjoying everything that this beautiful state has to offer, it is no secret that he is smiling both in and out of the office because he loves what he is doing all of the time.
